 The Board of Education of the Emery County School District shall consist of five (5) members, each elected from a different precinct, and shall be organized in accordance with the Utah School Laws (20A-14-202).

The Board may also, upon receipt of student application and recommendations from the Interview committee, appoint a non-voting student member(s) from the district high schools to the Board. The student has a right to participate in all Board meetings, except executive sessions. The student Board member shall be enrolled in a high school in the district and may be under eighteen (18) years of age and is not liable for any acts of the governing Board. The term of office is for one year, beginning on July 1 of each year. The student member is entitled to the same expense allowances granted to other Board members. Student Board members may participate in all meetings of the Board except executive sessions (20A-14-206).


Oath of Office

Members of the Board of Education, appointed or elected, shall, before entering upon the discharge of their duties, qualify by taking and subscribing to the constitutional oath of office (20A-14-202[2]).


Term of Office

Members of the Board of Education serve a term of four (4) years, beginning on the first Monday in January following the election. Board members take their seats at the first regular meeting in January following the election and shall serve until their successors are duly elected and qualified (20A-14-203).
