Eeaf- non student travel in school buses

School buses are for use in transporting students, and adults responsible for supervising students, to and from school and school-related activities. The District also designates other non-bus vehicles for transporting students as needed. Transporting of students and adults not associated with a school related activity will be regulated by the following stipulations issued by Utah State Risk Management:
- The following are situations in which non-students may travel in a District owned school bus, or other designated vehicle used for transporting students:
- Official chaperones
- District employees (with prior District approval and as long as a student is not displaced)
- A coach or advisor’s spouse (as long as a student is not displaced)
- Students from other schools within the School District (if involved in the event or activity)
- Students from other Districts covered by Risk Management (if involved in the event or activity)
- Students from private or home schools (if involved in an extracurricular activity under provisions of Utah Code (53G-6-703)
2. The following are situations in which non-students may not travel in a District owned school bus, or other
designated vehicle used for transporting students:
- Children of chaperones, coaches or advisors
- Students or other minors not involved in the event or activity
- Parents (unless assigned as an “official” chaperone
3. In an emergency, a district owned vehicle or bus may be used to transport non-students as needed to assist law
enforcement personnel, or to the extent made necessary by the circumstances of the emergency.
